Welcome to the Sandy Connolly Band, your day-break alternative to the usual cellar bands with their serious faces and distant gaze.  Rise and shine!  Throw open the shutters and take your Southern Blues, rock, and country sunny-side-up, fresh-squeezed and deliciously caffeinated.

What you’re gonna hear

Why, southern blues of course! Come out and hear Sandy and the band serve up mint-condition blues with lip-curl, bee-sting and snake-bite, often surpassing even the raw flavor of the original; always pushing the envelope of sweet surprise.  Expect appetizing arrangements of Big Mama Thornton’s “Hound Dog,” Al Green’s “Take Me to the River,” Joan Osborne’s “Spider Web,” Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s “Blue on Black,” and Susan Tedeschi’s “It Hurts So Bad” and a few daring, live-wire few originals.

Sandy’s Vocals – Listen up!

This Cinderella alto has sandpapered, pitch-perfect vocals with grit to soothe your hassle and a smile to melt your candelabra.  Imagine the playful delivery of Ricki Lee Jones, composed versatility of Mary Chapin Carpenter, self-assurance of Christine McVie, the adrenaline spike of Susan Tedeschi, and most impressively, close your eyes and enjoy the uncanny confident incarnation of the great Bonnie Raitt.

Who is her band?

Sam Bradford on lead guitar is a thirty year music veteran; tall, lean and actuarial on the outside, but a fierce, confident, Clapton-esque improviser on stage, pickin’ chicken scratch, fuzz-tone and flam-boyance while channeling OMG riffs from Les Paul to B.B. King.

Bass guitarist Freddie Rathbun proves that you don’t come away from recording stints in Nashville without some of that legendary session dust rubbing off on your dexterity and imagination.

On drums, Vic Dias is a rock-steady time-keeper perfectly capable of hammering the heads into submission, but savvy enough to understand how to use rhythm as glue with meticulous, tasteful accompaniment and drive.

Why should come out to hear them?

The Sandy Connolly Band is brash without being rude, old-school without the cobwebs; originality brimming out the pot and on to your dancin’ gene. This local secret is on a steam-roll, paving the soul highway with a dose o’ com-motion.  So check your blues at the curb.  Catch up with them soon and get some surf’s-up, sun-drenched rock therapy from the Sandy Connolly Band; then soar back home – high on life.
